5th Annual Mount St. Helens Drive (well, not quite... we missed a year because of COVID, but who's counting?) . We will be having a picnic lunch at South County Park in Toledo, so be sure to pack a lunch! We will meet at the West Olympia Safeway around 8:00 AM. (Food, gas, coffee, restrooms) After a drivers meeting around 8:30 we will head out. We will head south along the Capitol Forest, past Mima Mounds and on to our first rest stop at the Shell station on Hwy 12. From there we continue south to Alexander Park for our second rest stop. After our stop we will continue to head south through Winlock and Toledo to our lunch stop at South County Park in Toledo. After lunch will head on to our final destination of the observatory at Johnston Ridge on Mount St. Helens. There is an $8.00 fee to go into the observatory but in past years we have had enough people with annual passes to get everyone in at no charge. There is no fee to enjoy the area around the observatory if you do not wish to go in. https://www.fs.fed.us/visit/destination/johnston-ridge-observatory Hopefully this year we will see all of the mountain. Come join us for what has always been an enjoyable drive.
